Mysterious Faces

10 Jun

If you live in Knoxville, chances are you’ve seen these mysterious face stencils on walls, on dumpsters, on plywood, over hill and dale, etc etc:

Curious as to the artist/vandal responsible for these ambiguously singing/screaming little faces?  You’re not alone.  Visit the Metropulse’s gallery of these stencils.  This photo and the three below were taken by Lindsay Beeson of the Metropulse.

Dale, if you see any around town, send along your photos! And of course, if you find out anything more about the faces …

I’m seriously thinking of tracking some info beyond the images and locations … like how many colors does the artists favor? Which? Does the artists usually use permanent or temporary structures for a canvas?

Look out for that info to come in the next week or so.

    Thanks,
    Lindsay
