Tales of Mere Existence

Lev Yilmaz makes animated comics called “Tales of Mere Existence,” little neurotic vignettes of daily life, which he draws on semi-opaque paper from behind, so that you can see the lines he’s drawing and sometimes a flash of his hand as he’s creating the comics.  They’re simple and short, but Yilmaz does a great job of taking commonplace experiences and makes them interesting, poignant, and universal.  Here are a few of my favorites:

    I’ve always been a HUGE fan of the “How to Break Up…” edition. That piece is just way beyond true. It’s great to have them all in one place!
