150 Things That Make Me Happy

9 Oct

In college I had an acting professor that made us keep an ongoing list of simple things that made life worth living.  It didn’t have any direct relation to what he taught (acting and directing) and considering his semi-gruff demeanor and reputation as kind of a hard ass, it was kind of surprising he asked us to keep this list.  I’m still not totally sure of his reasons, but I’ve continued my list.  I try to write down something that makes me happy, or makes life worth living, or for which I’m grateful at least a few times a week.  It’s a gratitude-producing exercise that I highly recommend.

This is my 150th post.  To celebrate this monumental occasion, I bring you a list of 150 things that make me happy.

I very much enjoyed this….I’ll have to make my own list. I like how your answers vary from obvious and practical to very unique and personal!!!

I too will make a list and blog about it when I hit 100+ posts. Many items on your list make me happy too; especially #’s 40 & 92 (I’m a vintage postcard dealer).
As for why your professor had you make the list… Maybe he was trying to keep you focused on the good in life? I was taught the same technique in college, but without the actual list making. I was asked to remind myself of 3 happy things right away in the morning when I woke up; must’ve been for a psych class. Anyway, glad to hear you’re continuing the list.
