Pear and Peppercorn Vodka

I’m preparing for fall by starting a pear and peppercorn vodka infusion.  I got some great keifer pears at the farmer’s market last week- they’re bright, crisp and reminiscent of honey.  In short, they taste like fall.  I roughly chopped a few of these pears, added a few Balinese peppercorns, poured half a cup of pear brandy over the pear and peppercorns, and then added about 4 cups of vodka from the ever fabulous Smooth Ambler Spirits.  I’m loving it. The pear thickens the vodka and mellows it out a little. Adding a little pepper restores a little bit of a bite. I’ve been drinking it just with a little club soda and it’s an amazing fall cocktail.
