Make Your Own Upset Stomach Syrup

19 Jan

I was unaware until I took the herbal medicine making workshop at Erin’s Meadow Herb Farm that marjoram, basil and thyme are all soothing for upset stomachs.  A few weeks ago, I was feeling a little woozy and thought it might be a good idea to whip up some upset stomach serum.  It didn’t immediately cure my troubles, but it was a soothing alternative to downing Pepto-Bismol.

Upset Stomach Syrup

1 teaspoon sage

1 teaspoon marjoram

1 teaspoon rosemary

1 teaspoon thyme

1 teaspoon honey or sugar

Boil 1 cup of water and add sage, marjoram, rosemary and thyme in a tea bag or tea ball (or strain after brewing).  Allow to steep for 5 minutes, add 1 teaspoon honey or sugar and stir until dissolved.  Store in an airtight container.
