In preparation for an herbal cocktail class I’ll be teaching at Erin’s Meadow Herb Farm on June 25th, I’ve been playing with all kinds of herbal cocktails lately. The most recent one I made was so delicious, not only will I be using it in the class, I decided I should share it with you, dear blog readers. It’s a delicious mix of grapefruit, gin and lavender tincture from Food and Wine.
- 2 ounces gin
- 1/2 ounce Tincture of Lavender (infuse 2.5 oz vodka with 1/4 teaspoon of dried or 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lavender for two weeks, then strain)
- 3 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
- 1 fresh lavender sprig
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients except the lavender sprig. Shake well and strain into an ice-filled collins glass. Garnish with the lavender sprig (we added mulberries).
