It’s been awhile since my last blog post. I’ve been busy with traveling, visitors, work and projects. So busy, in fact, it was stressing me out for a bit. I found myself having trouble relaxing and taking time to myself. At one point last week, I thought to myself, “I either need to get a hammock or a therapist.” From experience, I can tell you this: a hammock is MUCH cheaper, providing you make one yourself. For some reason, hammocks, which are really nothing more than a thick piece of fabric attached to some thick string, are inordinately expensive. I’ve been in a bit of a money crunch lately, so buying one wasn’t really an option. I decided to make my own, and it’s been amazing. All I did was take an old IKEA tablecloth and hem each end about 100 times to make sure it would hold my weight and then string laundry line through each. This tutorial from Outside Mom is probably a more sure-fire way to go about making your own. In any case, I highly recommend that everyone have a Hammock of One’s Own. It’s a great way to relax, read, dream and just take some time for yourself.
